HD DVD no more

After much speculation and comparison to the VHS Betamax wars of old a winner has emerged in the High Def. movie market. Toshiba have officially announced (via) that they are no longer going to produce HD DVD's. Considering that at least 5 of the major studios have gone with the Sony backed Blueray it's hardly surprising. Hopefully this will mean that consuming units start coming down in price.

Sky Guide Music

This is one of those random posts that I just need to talk about.

Over Christmas the Sky Guide planner has been playing slightly odd, slightly dancey Christmas tracks. That's all well and good, I reckon there was about 5 or 6 of them in total.

So why is now we're subjected to the same 2 poxy tracks all year long! I know they occasionally change and yes, I can turn it off, but, come on Sky... give me something new to listen to!

Real Transformers

The real movies rocks, clearly some people have too much time on their hands.

Beginning of the end?

Could HD-DVD be dead? A lot of people rumoured that once a so called "main player" went one way or the other it could sway the market.

With Blockbuster's decision to go Blu-ray in over 1500 of it's US stores you've got to think it could be a swaying factor.

Still not going to buy one just yet mind you!

Pirates of the Caribbean 3

Saw POTC3 at the weekend and was overall pleased. It's a bit longer than it needs to be and in places can get a bit confusing but there is some comedy moments and great Captain Jack sound bites. If you've seen the other 2 it does clear up a few things as well!

One thing, if you go and you haven't seen it already sit it out through the end credits. There's more. Is it worth the 3+ minutes of credits wait? I'll let you decide.

Taken from the BBC NEWS Entertainment section. The top 50 films to see before you die according to cinema experts.

Some I've never heard of, some I've seen some and haven't. Fight Club, Scarface, Donnie Darko all good choices. Apocalypse Now also deserves to be there.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
