Comma’s Are Evil

13 March 2007 15:02

Aside from the fact that CSS cross browser is often quite a fun exercise and we all know how lovely MSIE can be in it’s quirks as indeed can Firefox, but, today I’ve leart that the comma is indeed evil.

The CSS file in question is quite large, a couple of hundred lines or so, in amungst it was a simple class:

#text p, { padding: 0; margin: 0; color: #ffffff; }

The issue was that the first paragraph tag in the text div had extra padding on the top whereas in IE it wasn’t there. The comma should be an obvious spot but within the larger file I’d overlooked it. Ah well… back to the CSS grindstone!

Sky Broadband

12 March 2007 21:26

My new Sky broadband got hooked up today migrated over from Pipex. All good, line works and get around 220% speed boost from 1 to 2.4 meg. All good.

Not so good is the fact Sky have decided to “customise” the Netgear DG834GT’s firmware managing to break port forwarding, they’ve also broken a few other bits. Overall I can’t complain. Also Sky seemingly refuse to give out the actual username and password for connecting making using my old router not possible. No no no, through the wonders of Google I’ve got the details and this comes to you from my Sky connection on my old router. Easy when you know how and have Google =D

GotCFM?

9 March 2007 13:46

It’s been blogged but late to the game as usual! Rey Bango has setup a new site GotCFM designed with the purpose of getting a list of Coldfusion powered sites. I think it’s a great idea as the more publicity for CF the better.

A cool idea might be some kind of Google maps mashup showing where domains are in the world, could get IP’s of the domain names and show it?

Anyway, cool site.
