Mmm wireless…

13 April 2004 3:41

Got myself a Netgear DG834G (54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router) all up and running now with Bulldog’s Alltime 500, cheaper than BT as well, always good. Next challenge is get the DynDNS stuff working. Anyway the point, would strongly recommend the DG834G, nice looking, nice admin, nice in general. Got a WC511 card running with it which again was easy to install and it works, not like the crappy Linksys stuff I tried, works fine on 98 but XP, oh no… that though is another story.

Electrolux B3300 Vacumn Cleaner

11 April 2004 9:19

Ok, got a vacumn cleaner from Tesco few weeks back and now have used up the dust bags, can I find them to buy? Oh no.

Rang up the Electrolux Group Floorcare Helpline (08706 055 055) and they told me that the model in question, TheBoss B3300 (1500W) was a Tesco special, nice, anyway, Tesco should sell bags (but they don’t) so if you need bags give them a call. When you through go to option 2 and you can get them. You need bag ref. U59, though if you just say Tesco and vacumn cleaner the lady (very helpful) knew exactly what I was on about.

The bags come in packs of 5 and include filters. They are £2.94 per pack with a £1.95 postage charge on the final order. Currently got a special where you get 5 packs for the price of 4. Bargin.

Microsoft updates? Free? !!!

8 April 2004 3:38

Found this on M$ site:

“The Windows Security Update CD contains security updates released by Microsoft through to 15 October 2003 for the Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and Windows Me operating systems. It’s particularly useful if you use a dial-up connection, as you can install all updates in one session without tying up your phone line. Once installed, you can then maintain the stability, security and reliability of your system by enabling Automatic Updates, to make sure your computer is kept fully updated.”

What’s more it’s free, even the shipping, no need for 150-200MB downloads.
